# Daily operations in a convenience store

## Each shift

1. Sign in with your own user and open the register with the float ([step 3](https://docs.smartposhub.com/business-types/convenience-store/step-3-shifts-and-cash-registers/)).
2. Sell: scan, one-key payment, age check when asked ([step 2](https://docs.smartposhub.com/business-types/convenience-store/step-2-fast-scanning-checkout/), [step 5](https://docs.smartposhub.com/business-types/convenience-store/step-5-age-checks-top-ups-and-extras/)).
3. Record cash payouts with **Add Expense**.
4. Close the register, count, note safe drops.

## Morning

- **Reports › Stock Expiry Report**: pull or discount items at their date; remove expired stock with a stock adjustment.
- Dashboard: low-stock list and **Purchase Payment Due**.
- Receive route deliveries (milk, bread, snacks) as purchases.

## End of day

1. Make sure every register is closed.
2. **Reports › Z Report** for the day; **Reports › Register Report** for each shift.
3. Check **Sell › All sales** for any sale left due.

Purchases › Add Purchase with status Received, the driver's invoice number, quantities, cost and lot and dates for perishables.

### How do I record items thrown away?

Stock Adjustment › Add Stock Adjustment with the reason (expired, damaged). Web adjustments only remove stock.
